‘Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1’ to Launch on Consoles and PC on October 24th
After keeping fans in suspense, Konami has revealed the launch date for Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1. The compilation was first announced alongside Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater at Sony’s PlayStation Showcase, but Konami had not disclosed much information about it. However, the company has now addressed this by providing more details during the latest Nintendo Direct.
In Wednesday’s live stream, Konami said that the Master Collection will arrive on October 24 and include Metal Gear Solid, MGS 2: Sons of Liberty and MGS 3: Snake Eater, as previously announced, as well as Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake and Metal Gear and NES versions of Snake’s Revenge from the 1990s. Additionally, the bundle comes with plenty of bonus content, including strategy guides for each game and a digital soundtrack. It also comes with the Metal Gear Solid graphic novel and script books that delve into the stories of Sons of Liberty and Snake Eater.
In other words, Master Collection is becoming the best way to play the Metal Gear series on modern platforms. Many games, including Sons of Liberty, are not available for purchase on platforms such as GOG and the Microsoft Store due to Konami running into licensing issues with the content of some of these titles. Buying the collection will of course depend on how Konami treats Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima. Since the company’s public split in 2015, the company has gone out of its way to minimize — and in many cases remove — Kojima’s name from the series he gave three decades of his life to. Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 is available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Steam and Nintendo Switch.
